Luxury Motor
yacht EL JEFE was built by Derecktor Shipyards in 1990. Since
its recent purchase the yacht has undergone a 3.5 million
dollar full interior and exterior refit in 2007. This luxury
charter yacht is located year round in the Caribbean. The
yacht is home based in St. Maarten but is also available elsewhere
upon request.

EL JEFE is a luxury motor yacht 115ft in length and can accommodate
8-10 guests, which includes four state rooms. His inviting and fun
furnishings compliment the attractive interior decor. The main salon
has a comfortable socializing area, as well as, a formal dining
area midship, which can comfortably seat up to ten guests. The exquisite
cuisine prepared by his internationally-trained chef will be sure
to please. The sky lounge is complete with a full entertainment
system with TV/CD/DVD, as well as another full bar.
On the aft deck which leads down to her swimming
platform, an ‘el fresco’ dinning table can seat 12
guests. EL JEFE’s Sun Deck has additional seating for 10
more guests as well as outdoor barbeque, jet skis, flat screen
TV and bar station. The Fly bridge boasts a semi covered sun bed,
a full wet bar and an 8 person jacuzzi/hottub.

Captain- Bill Higgins and Chef Danny Escarment plus 3 crew
Captain Bill Higgins: Born and raised in the United States, Captain
Bill is a highly qualified Captain with extensive experience in
all aspects of yachting from chartering to major refits. He has
commanded all types of yachts and a proven history of longevity.
Bill holds an MCA /CEC Master 3000ton license, USCG Master Oceans
1600/3000, PADI Open Water Diving Certification, and is an American
Sailing Association certified instructor. He has many years experience
in both charter and private yachts throughout the Caribbean, Bahamas,
and United States and beyond. His professionalism, attention to
detail, ability to ensure a positive and energetic atmosphere onboard
and willingness to always go that extra mile is what keeps his crew
and clients happy and returning year after year. Bill is not only
a great Captain but holds a strong sense of family values and long
lasting friendships. Bill brought M/Y El Jefe through its refit
in 2007 and served at Captain for the first year in operations.
He went on to pursue some opportunities stateside and we are happy
to have him back on board as Captain.
Chief Stewardess - Daphne Marx (South African) - Professional, personable
and caring best describes Daphne. With her background in property
management she has a great eye for detail. Adept at being invisible
when necessary, yet appearing at just the right moment her ability
to make sure everything runs smoothly is her forte.
Daphne started her yachting career on M/Y Kisses in 2008 before
joining her husband Robert on El Jefe in 2009. With silver service
and creative interior courses under her belt, Daphne will ensure
your dining occasions are flawless and she makes sure that guests
on El Jefe feel totally at ease and relaxed, plus have lots of fun
in the process!
An avid photographer, Daphne also enjoys swimming, snorkeling, cooking
and traveling.
First Mate/Engineer -
Robert Marx (South African) - Rob grew up on a farm and learnt how
to fix things and be innovative early on. After running his own
farm for several years he became a Construction Manager and traveled
all over the Eastern Cape of SA. He is well versed in all aspects
of mechanics, installation, equipment and operations.
Rob joined the mega yacht industry in 2007 and spent a year on M/Y
Chantel Ma Vie prior to joining El Jefe. His meticulous attitude
ensures all systems are running smoothly and are well maintained
for a safe and carefree vacation and his easy going nature will
make you feel comfortable from the moment you step onboard.
Rob enjoys motor sports, fishing and water sports and likes keeping
guests active and entertained.
Chef - Danny Escarment (American)- Danny was born in Haiti and moved
to the United States 25 years ago where he attended the Sheridan
Vocational Culinary Arts Center, for a two-year program to perfect
his culinary skills. After graduation he became head chef at the
Banana Boat Restaurant for 11 years, he then moved to the Ft. Lauderdale
Sheraton Hotel as sous-chef, specializing in soups and sauces. His
first opportunity on a Yacht was M/Y “Lady Francis”
(now ‘El Jefe’)(115 ft) spending 3 years before joining
the crew of M/Y “Cookie Monster” (110 ft.) for 2 years,
followed by M/Y “Bon Bon” (122 ft. Flagship) for 4 years.
His last yacht was M/Y “Vango” (164 ft. Westport) for
2 and half years. A 4-time award winning Chef, Danny has a fresh
approach to cooking that pleases any palate, both healthy and delicious.
He is particularly known for his desserts, breads, soups, and his
award winning crab cakes. Danny speaks English, French, Creole,
and a modest amount of Spanish.
Stewardess/Deckhand -
Luiza Popa (Romanian) - Luiza was born in Bucharest ,Romania where
she grew up along with her family and friends. Having traveled to
Asia, Portugal, Turkey, Norway and France on different excursions,
Luiza set her sights on the USA, Bahamas and Caribbean and there
is no better way to see the islands than by boat. Luiza started
her yachting adventures as a Stewardess onboard M/Y Primadonna in
2008 and cruised the USA and Bahamas
before joining M/Y El Jefe at the beginning of July 2010.
Luiza is a keen sports woman who enjoys running, working out at
the gym or swimming laps at the pool when the time is right and
the water is warm. Also loves to meet new people as it broadens
one’s own experiences.
